Hello everyone,
So, as many of you already know, the Rush tribute band in L.A., Caress of Steel, has been asked to perform for U.S. Army troops in Kuwait. Our original intent was to try and go there in January or February, but since the SOFA was not renegotiated, the troops are all going to be leaving Iraq (and many from Kuwait) at the end of this calendar year. So, we'll be the last group of musicians to perform for these guys before they head back home!
Us in two forms, since I'll be playing bass for their cover band The Saloonatics as the opening act, then followed by some cheerleaders, a country band, and then the tribute band. Five shows in 7 days, then returning on Xmas eve. Oh, and I'll be working on my final projects for school during the whole trip. Yay.
Anyway, I'll try my best to come up with some good pictures and posts while I'm over there. It's not every day you get to travel to the Middle East!
Well, to bed. I have a final exam (early, since I'll be over there during all of exam week), at 8AM at my professor's home . Apparently there's a piano tuner coming over, and someone needs to be there. I dunno. I'm just glad they have all been so understanding about me not being around for finals. Two hours of Data Structures and Algorithm Hell, followed by two hours of Rainy Chicago Traffic Hell, followed by six and a half hours of Post 9-11 Paranoid Yet Ineffective Security Flying With Six Bags Hell, followed by Band Practice He.... oh, wait, that will be the fun part of the day....if I'm still conscious.
Yusaif el Uwaimina! (Arabic for "Safe Travels", badly Romanized by me)
