We're Finally Going Back!

After 4 years of Japan telling us they don't want our kind there (or anyone else's kind, for that matter), all travel restrictions have been lifted and we are flying out today for our first Japan vacation since 2019! This trip will be rather odd for us, in that we're just doing normal tourist stuff. With how insanely busy things have been with work, we didn't have time to get a bike trip planned. Plan B was to spend some time on Sado Island for the Ondeko (Demon Drum) Festival. Then the festival was cut from two days to one, then no information about the one day was posted, so we figured we'd better figure something else out.

So what are we doing this time? A lot of train riding. We have an All Japan JR rail pass, meaning we can take any JR train, including shinkansen, for two weeks. So we're going to hit some places that either aren't good locations for cycling, such as Nagoya and Nara, and work our way across the country, stopping pretty much wherever we feel like for about a week an a half. We're going to end the trip at Okunoshima, also known as Bunny Island due to the 1000 or so rabbits that inhabit the small island. In between? We'll see!

We're off the the airport now, and we're excited to be on our way back!

Miya, on the other hand, could not care less...
