And the fun begins....

So, here we are, one week away from our next trip to Japan, and The Big One hits Miyagi prefecture. The whole weekend has been spent, rather than packing and planning, scouring Japanese news and emailing friends trying to figure out what things are like on the ground and if we should be canceling the trip. We've decided (for now), to continue on with our trip, though we've altered our flight so we avoid Tokyo completely.

The goal is to leave Chicago on March 21st, visit Fukuoka, Shikoku, Kobe and perhaps a return trip to Miyajima if time and weather permit and return April 4th, most likely craving the biggest cheeseburger we can find. It looks to be a lot of fun, and hopefully there won't be any more excitement between now and then, or we may have to rethink our trip one more time.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for more exciting updates, like "Which Socks Do I Bring?" and the always entertaining "Toiletries: Hair Gel or Hand Grenade? The TSA Files"

  1. Slogging up Mt. Misen was one of my favorite parts of my time in Japan. Hope you guys have a great trip.

  2. Thanks, Nate! I really am looking forward to returning to Miyajima. One of the most beautiful spots in the world. Last time we took the ropeway up and walked down. We'll see what kind of shape we're in this time around. Maybe we'll tough it out and do the climb ourselves.
